A Little Decorating... Easy DIY Wall Mural

What a great idea from Better Homes and Gardens!  Do you have a wall in your house that could really use something large-scale?  But large-scale pieces are expensive.  Solution: Create your own professional looking wall mural.  Or you could use the pattern on a piece of inexpensive canvas purchased at the craft store.  I like the idea of framing your mural with some molding.  So many great possibilities!

Directions...
Painted Mural Materials:
Light blue/gray latex paint (or your choice of colors)
White and tan acrylic crafts paint
Paintbrushes: 1-inch and 1/2-inch wide
Painter’s tape

Painted Mural Directions:
1. Download the mural pattern here. Enlarge the pattern as desired using a photocopier; for very large sizes, it may be necessary to tape portions together.
2. Position the pattern on the wall. Place transfer paper under the pattern; trace over the black lines of the pattern to transfer the design. Remove the pattern, and use painter’s tape to mask the outside edges of the transferred design.
3. Referring to the color key found with the pattern, paint the tan and light blue/gray portions of the design first and allow the paint to dry. Paint the outlines with white using a narrow brush. Remove the painter’s tape.
4. When the paint is dry, mask a 1-1/2-inch wide band around the mural with tape. Paint the band white; remove the tape.
