A Little Sleep: Silicone Ear Plugs

I know this post is a bit random, but I felt like I owed it to the awesome ladies that read a little great to let you in on a little secret:  Silicone Ear Plugs.

No joke these things have changed my life.
I am the world's lightest sleeper, and I need plenty of sleep to feel and act my best (let's be honest though, this doesn't happen as much as I would love for it to happen).  I need good, quality sleep to feel rested (you know, full REM cycles and stuff - not being woken up continually).  I have supersonic hearing and whenever I had to share a room with people of the snoring variety, I would try the foamy ear plugs.  Those foam ear plugs never worked for me - they would always give me a headache and worm their way out of my ears before long... then I'd wake up to that awful rattling and the knowledge that everyone else is getting great "nighty-night" and I am up and miserably attuned to their rhythmic snorting.  Or if I desperately need a nap in the middle of the day, and the neighbor's dog is yapping, or the garbage trucks are on the prowl, or some kid is flipping his skateboard deck around outside the house, I am out of luck.
Enter silicone ear plugs.  They seal up the ear's opening, tune out the world, and don't put pressure on your head or ears. They are genius!  They have changed my sleep for the better.

These babies are about $3 at almost every grocery store, or I put an amazon link below.  You can re-use them many times until they get grody, then grab a new pair.
I hope someone gets the joy out of these that I do.  I had never seen them before, I just stumbled across them accidentally (and serendipitously).  I don't know if these are common knowledge or not, but I am just trying to spread the love.

Good night everyone!  Sleep tight.  Ahhhhh.

One word of caution:  if you use these with kids, make sure someone else can listen for them!

Impeccable timing. I was just telling Torr yesterday that I was desperate for some ear plugs!

Lisa, I have even been able to use them with babies - i would wake up from babies grunting and snorting, and with the ear plugs, all i would hear is when they were actually awake and crying and needed to be fed! but i would always recommend a back up pair of ears to help out with that!

I used these in college with loud roommates. Work GREAT! At least one always fell out by the time I woke up in the morning, but they stayed in long enough to keep the sound out when it mattered most.

I ordered these as an alternative to regular foam plugs. But how the hell are you supposed to put them in your ears? Can't seem to get a good fit let alone a water tight fit as they are really meant for swimming.

Oh and about the foam plugs falling/worm out, you clearly did not apply them the right way. They really can't fall out if applied correctly. You have to roll them between your fingers to make them smaller (width). Once small you can stick them easily down your ear canal. They are not supposed to stick out of your ear. Looking straight forward into a mirror you should not be able to see them. After a bunch of uses they re-inflate to quickly after rolling them between your fingers, that's when you replace them.
