A Little Five on Friday... Five Reasons I am Happy to be My Age

I turned 32 last week.  On the morning of my b-day I had breakfast with several of my girlfriends.  The table next to us was full of local firefighters.  On my way to the restroom (I'm pregnant remember), I had to squeeze past them.  When I returned to the table one of them asked if this was my baby shower.  I told him no, it's my birthday.  And then, get this... he asks, "21, 22?"  I laugh and tell him thanks for making me feel good.  Then I tell him that it's my thirty-second birthday.  He genuinely looked shocked.  I honestly don't know if he was messing with me or not.

My friends laughed that he was flirting with me.  I find it hard to believe that any man in his right mind would flirt with an 8-month pregnant woman.

This incident did two things for me. One: it made me think that maybe the sales girl at Forever 21 was right... and I really am aging well.  Two: it made me thankful that I'm not 21 or 22... and here's why...

1.  I have a plan!  I know who I am and I know where I'm going.  When I was 21 I thought I knew... I obviously didn't.
2.  I wouldn't trade my life with my husband and little ones for anything!
3.  I am SO much smarter these days!
4.  I figure that as long as I am fit and take care of myself... it doesn't really matter how old I get, right?
5.  All those years of experience has made me the woman I am today.  The great thing is that all the crap, all the disappointment, the pain, the joy, all of it makes me... well... me.

So, what about you?  Why are you glad to be you?

Happy Birthday Aly!
I also wouldn't want to be 21 again, I am 34 and am glad for the experience these years have given me. I have thought though how different my life would be if I had the knowledge, confidence, experiences and info that I have now and then went back in time to do it over again. Funny to think of. I like who I am though and am glad for the decisions I have made and I like where my life is going.

Aw darn. I am twenty. I think the best thing I know at this point in my life is that I REALLY don't know everything, and I probably never will, but thats okay.

I know. I learn fast, right? Haha. Just kidding.
