Friends ask me all the time where I find new music. I guess it's like anything-when you love something, you kind of look for it everywhere. I might hear something in a movie preview and scribble down enough lyrics so I can google it when I get home, I scour blogs, I beg for mix tapes from people who know more than I do. I listen to KCRW.
But mostly, I think I'm just fairly open to giving things a shot. A few weeks ago I bought the new Broken Social Scene CD and they threw a funny little sampler in the bag. There wasn't much on it worth passing along but track 7 knocked the wind out of me. It's by Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. You listen to this song and you are pretty much convinced that you've found some long lost Motown tapes, but this little gem came out in April. As usual, I promise the entire CD is worth checking out, this is just a little taste. And ladies, don't be afraid of the sampler. Even if you only find one song you like, isn't that better than just listening to the Twilight soundtrack again?

Love Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. I was fortunate enough to see them at Folkfest. I have been enjoying your blog. I like to do a weekly feature of artists that I love and have come across. If you are ever looking for some great new music pop over!
